Above and Below
1min30sec (16MB), Spring 2005
This movie explores the potential to experience
multiple perspectives through film in a manner
impossible in real life. Inspired by a walk I took with an umbrella,
the way it divides what hovers above from what
lies below, I filmed these opposing views
simultaneously. With every jolt, bump, and stop in
lockstep, the parallels and contrasts between
the above and the below become more apparent.
In fracturing the totality of our worldview, I attempt to explore the relations of those
experiences which occur while our attention is focused
elsewhere.
